Data Center Engineer Consultant

Under direct supervision of the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, the Data Center Engineer Consultant is responsible for maintaining the data center and office environments and ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational, and highly available through continuous proactive monitoring, customer support, and scheduled maintenance preparation.

Principal Accountabilities:
Demonstrates LAN/WAN topology knowledge.
Executes daily computer room work.
Performs server hardware upgrades and troubleshooting.
Utilizes the proper tools to perform copper and fiber cable certification and troubleshooting.
Works with and maintains small parts. Records transactions in inventory control database.

Skills & Software Requirements:
MS Office Suite, Inventory Control Software (RedBeam), Environmental Monitoring Software (RF Code), Security Surveillance Software (Genetec)

Work Schedule: This position requires working in person, splitting time between our Chicago, IL headquarters and our Aurora, IL data center. Flexibility is essential, and shifts may be adjusted according to business requirements.

CME Group is seeking skilled and experienced Consultants for a fixed term of engagement from 7/27/2026 to 12/31/2026. CME is committed to offering competitive compensation for our consultants that recognizes their contributions to the business. The hourly pay for this role is expected to be $24 per hour. The actual pay offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal consultants or employees (where relevant). Please note that while this opportunity is for a consultant role dedicated to CME, the consultant will be directly employed by a third party vendor, which would provide pay and benefits.
