We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 / IMS Database Developer to join our Credit Card Technology team. This role is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of IMS (Information Management System) and DB2 database environments supporting mission-critical credit card processing systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in IMS DB/DC, COBOL, JCL, and mainframe integration, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability in high-volume transaction environments. – NO RELOCATION

Job Description: 

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 / IMS Database Developer to join our Credit Card Technology team. This role is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of IMS (Information Management System) and DB2 database environments supporting mission-critical credit card processing systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in IMS DB/DC, COBOL, JCL, and mainframe integration, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability in high-volume transaction environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain IMS DB/DC and DB2 database systems supporting credit card platforms
• Build and optimize database structures, including hierarchical IMS databases and relational DB2 schemas
• Develop, test, and support COBOL programs interacting with IMS and DB2 databases
• Write and manage JCL for batch processing, data loads, backups, and recovery procedures
• Monitor and tune database performance, ensuring high availability and efficient transaction processing
• Support IMS transaction management (DC) and ensure seamless integration with online and batch systems
• Perform database reorganization (REORG), recovery, and capacity planning activities
• Collaborate with application developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to design scalable solutions
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements
• Support system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives involving mainframe technologies

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in mainframe development with strong focus on IMS DB/DC and DB2
• Hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and mainframe utilities
• Deep understanding of IMS hierarchical database design and processing
• Experience with DB2 SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning
• Strong knowledge of transaction processing systems and high-volume batch environments
• Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization tools
• Familiarity with TSO/ISPF and mainframe debugging tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in credit card, payments, or financial services environments
• Knowledge of high-volume transaction systems and real-time processing
• Exposure to CICS transaction processing
• Experience with data integration, APIs, or hybrid mainframe/cloud architectures
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in financial systems
