What you'll do...About the TeamThe Walmart/VIZIO Team is responsible for enabling and operating
secure, scalable, and cost-aware cloud platforms that support critical business systems. We work across Engineering, Security, Finance, and Platform teams to modernize infrastructure, migrate workloads, enforce governance, and reduce operational risk. Our mandate is not just to build infrastructure-but to build it correctly, with consistency, automation, and long-term sustainability in mind.
This Principal role brings together cloud migration leadership, infrastructure architecture, automation, security remediation, and FinOps enablement into a single senior technical authority.
What You'll DoCloud Migration & Architecture Leadership - Lead the migration and modernization of a large portfolio of applications and databases from AWS to Google Cloud Platform and Azure, ensuring reliability, security, and minimal disruption.
- Design target-state architectures and migration patterns that balance scalability, resilience, cost, and operational simplicity.
- Evaluate cloud-native services and guide architectural tradeoffs across AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.
- Establish reference architectures, landing zone standards, and platform patterns used across the organization.
Infrastructure as Code & Platform Automation - Architect, build, and maintain complex, reusable Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and Terragrunt.
- Develop Python and Bash automation to support infrastructure lifecycle management, migrations, governance, and operational workflows.
- Drive consistency and quality through shared modules, versioning strategies, and code review standards.
- Integrate IaC and automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related tooling.
Containers, CI/CD & Modernization - Drive containerization and platform adoption using Docker and Kubernetes, enabling scalable and resilient application deployments.
- Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines that support fast, safe, and repeatable infrastructure and application delivery.
- Improve observability, reliability, and operability through automation and standardized tooling.
Security, Compliance & Governance (SecOps) - Build automation and guardrails to remediate security findings and enforce configuration baselines across all cloud providers.
- Partner closely with Security teams to embed security best practices into IaC, pipelines, and platform standards.
- Support continuous compliance through asset discovery, inventory management, and policy validation tooling.
FinOps Enablement (Equal Focus) - Incorporate cost awareness and financial accountability into infrastructure design, migrations, and automation.
- Support tagging standards, cost allocation models, and usage visibility across AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.
- Partner with FinOps and Finance teams to ensure infrastructure decisions reflect both technical and financial best practices.
Operational Excellence & Technical Leadership - Provide hands-on Linux system administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting when needed.
- Maintain high-quality documentation, runbooks, and architectural decision records.
- Serve as a principal-level mentor and technical leader through design reviews, code reviews, and cross-team collaboration.
- Champion best practices, consistency, and long-term maintainability across all infrastructure efforts.
About YouYou are a senior-level engineer with a deep sense of ownership and a passion for building infrastructure
the right way. You bring:
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, plus strong experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Azure, ideally in migration scenarios.
- Deep expertise in Terraform, including the design of modular, reusable IaC systems; experience with Terragrunt is strongly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Bash for automation, tooling, and operational workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
- A solid foundation in Linux system administration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
- A strong understanding of cloud security principles, compliance requirements, and SecOps workflows.
- Practical experience incorporating FinOps principles into infrastructure and platform design.
- A documentation-first mindset, with a commitment to clarity, accuracy, and discoverability.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-track initiatives.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence without authority.

The annual salary range for this position is $121,000.00 - $242,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
