Chronos Operations (CO) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chenega Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation based in Anchorage, AK. Belonging to the Military, Intelligence, and Operations Support (MIOS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), Chronos has a culture rooted in integrity, respect, and exceptional performance. Chronos is headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, and provides mission-critical services in Advanced Analytics & AI, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Intelligence.

The Engineer-Network and Systems is responsible for executing daily operations across core and access network switching, servers, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), hypervisors, backups, and Disaster Recovery exercises of the Fire Alarms Network (FARS) and ICS Network (CRIISP), Industrial Control Software (ICS), and servers at the Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily operations for network infrastructure, including core and access switching.
  • Manage servers, VDI environments, and hypervisors to ensure system stability.
  • Execute and validate backup and Disaster Recovery processes.
  • Implement and maintain firewall policies and port documentation.
  • Share responsibilities for Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans and Security. Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance.
  • Participate in weekly duties at Peterson Space Force Base as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred. Additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years in network and systems engineering roles.
  • Must meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical Level II requirements.
  • Must have Microsoft Server certification, *nix/BSD certification, and IDS/IPS certification at time of start.
  • Must have Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Top-Secret clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with Cisco networking, VMware/KVM hypervisors, and Windows/Linux servers.
  • Networking protocols and technologies (Cisco, OSPF, BGP).
  • Virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Firewall management and security compliance frameworks (STIG/SRG).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for network and system issues.
  • Ability to implement firewall policies and maintain accurate port documentation.
  • Proficiency in backup and Disaster Recovery planning and execution.
  • Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call rotations, serving weekly in Primary, Secondary, and Off roles for continuous coverage.
  • Industrial Control System and Fire Alarm Reporting System administration.
  • Security configuration standards (STIG/SRG) and vulnerability management tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for cybersecurity incidents.
  • Ability to manage backups and media handling with two-person integrity.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills that include the ability to interact with a wide variety of key stakeholders to ensure timely responses for all communications and deliverables across all projects.
  • Superb planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Results-driven with a positive attitude and a high degree of initiative and responsiveness.
  • Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and attend to details while staying focused on key priorities and management.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and a pragmatic approach to delivering a solution that optimizes architecture activities across company needs, business constraints, and technological realities.
  • Good work ethic and active desire to learn.
  • Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment to encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
