Description
We are seeking a Business Analyst to support the applications and processes used by our enterprise engineering organization-specifically in the areas of Requirements Management and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis). This role partners closely with our Engineering Lead and works at the intersection of business process, technical application support, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has experience working with engineering tools, product development processes, or engineering teams, combined with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
This Business Systems Analyst will join our client's Product Development Excellence, Quality and Cost team, supporting software tools and processes that enable engineering and product management teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently. This role is a backfill for a key support function focused on requirements management and FMEA software, and will work closely with business leads, vendors, and global users.
Key Responsibilities
Application & User Support
Serve as the primary business process support lead for our engineering applications (Requirements Management & FMEA tools).
Manage and resolve service support tickets from the engineering user community.
Troubleshoot functionality, performance, access, and workflow issues.
Document issues, resolutions, and recurring themes for continuous improvement.
Provide day-to-day operational oversight of the applications.
Testing, Upgrades & Release Management
Support and help lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and regression testing for new software releases.
Work with external vendors and internal IT partners to support:
Application upgrades
Patch planning
Problem resolution
Identify and define testing requirements for QA environments.
Understand release notes, new functionality, and help determine business impact.
Ensure smooth deployment of enhancements and fixes.
Engineering Processes & Business Alignment
Work hand-in-hand with the Engineering Lead on:
Requirements management processes
Enterprise FMEA processes
Engineering workflow optimization
Learn and understand core engineering processes so you can:
Support engineers using the tools
Identify gaps or opportunities in the workflow
Recommend process and tool improvements
Help drive engineering efficiencies and adoption of best practices.
Data Insights & Visualization
Use data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to:
Build or interpret dashboards
Analyze tool usage and performance
Provide insights back to engineering leadership
Leverage data and AI-assisted analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
Contribute to workflow management and reporting improvements.
Training & Communication
Provide user communications regarding:
Outages
Changes
New features
Upgrade timelines
May assist with user training sessions and documentation.
Communicate professionally with external vendors, IT, and internal teams.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with:
Engineering Lead (primary direction & priority setting)
Data design engineers
System analysts
External software vendors
Internal IT support teams
Participate in daily/weekly planning, ticket review, and status updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting or using engineering software tools (PLM, Requirements, FMEA, modeling tools, etc.) preferred.
Knowledge of product development processes and engineering workflows.
Strong business process design, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
Experience investigating issues, documenting findings, and communicating solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with both technical and non-technical users.
Experience collaborating with external vendors and IT partners.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a support-focused environment.
Curiosity, continuous improvement mindset, and willingness to learn engineering processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related technical field.
Master's degree accepted with 2-4 years of experience.
Experience:
2-4 years of relevant experience in software support, product development processes, or engineering systems.
Internships not considered qualifying experience.
Preferred Qualifications

FMEA applications
Product development lifecycle systems
Prior experience in a role involving application support, QA testing, or service desk duties - ideally in an engineering environment.
Ability to use data to drive insights and process improvements.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
