About the Role

A leading government agency is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (Database Administrator 3) to perform advanced administration tasks for applications with complex data models, workflows, and reporting requirements. This role focuses heavily on database optimization, migration, and integration with cloud services. The successful candidate will work with full-stack Java applications on the agency's cloud platform (Azure/AWS) within an Agile (Scrum) environment to support core enterprise applications.

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases and infrastructure while ensuring high availability and performance.

Lead the migration of on-premises Oracle databases to Oracle DB@Azure Cloud, focusing on decoupling existing BLOB storage into data and Azure Blob Storage.

Transition batch cron jobs to Oracle Database Jobs to enhance workflow automation and efficiency.

Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, modify database programs for performance tuning, and implement monitoring solutions to track health metrics.

Manage backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure database integrity and continuity.

Administer Oracle GoldenGate for efficient data replication.

Perform logical and physical data modeling, design relational database models, and create test database environments.

Coordinate data usage to ensure integrity, control redundancy, and evaluate user requests for new data elements.

Ensure that user interfaces for database administration and data output are compliant with EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies.

Develop and adhere to architectural standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the database environment.

Minimum Qualifications

10 years of experience in database administration.
p]:pt-0 [&>p]:mb-2 [&>p]:my-0" style="">
8 years of experience working with Oracle and Microsoft SQL.
p]:pt-0 [&>p]:mb-2 [&>p]:my-0" style="">
8 years of experience in database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
p]:pt-0 [&>p]:mb-2 [&>p]:my-0" style="">
8 years of experience designing enterprise applications or services.
p]:pt-0 [&>p]:mb-2 [&>p]:my-0" style="">
8 years of experience creating technical and functional design documentation.

8 years of experience within the Software Development Life Cycle using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum.

8 years of experience with multi-tier system and application development, including SOA, Microservices, and 3-Tier applications.

Preferred Qualifications

6 years of experience extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources into Azure SQL.

4 years of experience managing large volume databases, high availability, and disaster recovery infrastructure.

4 years of proficiency in converting and adapting database structures for cloud environments, specifically Azure.

3 years of experience configuring PowerBI environments and developing PowerBI reports.

3 years of experience with DevOps technology, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Azure.

2 years of experience migrating on-premises databases to cloud environments, with a preference for Azure.

Azure certification is highly desired.

DBA Associate certifications are highly desired.
