Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to lead a high-performing software engineering team through complex modernization initiatives. This role will focus on driving agile delivery across projects such as legacy platform consolidation, distributed system development, and integration with mainframe and batch systems. You will serve as a champion of agile practices, removing obstacles, fostering collaboration, and enabling predictable, iterative delivery with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives) with efficiency and purpose.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to maintain a prioritized backlog aligned with business objectives.
- Identify and remove impediments, manage cross-team dependencies, and support high-velocity delivery.
- Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
- Coach the team on agile principles, estimation, metrics, flow management, and delivery predictability.
- Align engineering efforts with architecture, business stakeholders, and support teams.
- Safeguard the team from scope creep and external distractions while ensuring quality outcomes.
- Monitor performance metrics (velocity, cycle time, throughput) and drive measurable improvements.
- Support release planning, risk management, and communication across workstreams.
- Advocate for engineering best practices including definition of done, visibility of technical debt, and quality-first delivery.
Required Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Delivery Lead supporting software engineering teams.
- Demonstrated success in enabling delivery within complex technical environments (distributed systems, modernization, enterprise integration preferred).
- Strong expertise in Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
- Experience managing cross-team dependencies and collaborating with architecture, DevOps, and QA functions.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to coach engineers and stakeholders across varying levels of agile maturity.
- Proficiency with agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar platforms.
