Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute performance, load, stress, and scalability tests for Java-based APIs and backend systems
Develop and maintain performance test scripts using JMeter (mandatory)
Analyze thread dumps, heap dumps, logs to identify:
Deadlocks
Memory leaks
CPU contention
Thread starvation
Perform root cause analysis for performance degradation and system bottlenecks
Collaborate with developers and architects to:
Tune JVM performance
Optimize application and infrastructure behavior
Produce clear performance reports with actionable recommendations
Support performance testing across pre-production and production environments
Required Technical Skills
Core
Strong hands-on experience with Java (J2EE / Java 17 & Java 21 preferred)
Proven expertise in API performance testing
JMeter - required and non-negotiable
Deep experience with:
Thread dump analysis
Heap dump analysis
JVM performance tuning
Performance & Monitoring
- Load / stress / endurance testing methodologies
- Understanding of JVM internals, garbage collection, and memory management
- Experience with performance metrics, logs, and diagnostics
Certifications (Highly Preferred)
- Oracle Java Certification (J2EE / Java 17 / Java 21)
- AWS Certifications (Lambda, Cloud Practitioner, or higher)
- Apple-related certifications (Apple DC, JAMF)
- JAMF certifications (200-300 level a strong plus)
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience testing cloud-native or distributed systems
Familiarity with AWS environments supporting Java applications
- Experience working in high-scale enterprise or consumer platforms
- Prior experience supporting Apple, FAANG, or similar large tech ecosystems
Ideal Candidate Profile
Senior-level performance engineer (not manual QA)
Comfortable working in complex, high-throughput systems
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to explain findings clearly
