Description
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with expertise in financial systems to join our team on a contract basis in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will act as a crucial link between finance and technology teams, ensuring business needs are effectively translated into system solutions that enhance financial operations and reporting. The ideal candidate will excel at analyzing complex processes, driving automation, and supporting system implementation efforts.
Responsibilities:
Partner with finance teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for custom financial systems.
Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and process workflows.
Collaborate with developers, system architects, and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Evaluate existing financial processes to identify opportunities for automation and operational improvements.
Support the implementation and configuration of financial modules such as general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, grants, and forecasting.
Perform data analysis, validation, and reconciliation to ensure system accuracy and integrity.
Develop and execute test plans, facilitate user acceptance testing, and document results.
Create user manuals, training materials, and provide ongoing support to end-users.
Assist with system integrations involving enterprise platforms and data warehouses.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, data security standards, and audit requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst specializing in finance or financial systems.
Strong understanding of financial processes, including general ledger, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Hands-on experience with custom or configurable financial systems.
Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Agile methodologies like Scrum.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to convert complex financial rules into actionable technical requirements.
Experience with financial data modeling, ERP systems, and system integrations is highly desirable.
