Genesis10 is currently seeking a Mainframe COBOL Developer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This role is critical to sustain operations across a Mainframe Payments platform, which supports essential functions for high value payment, deposit, and treasury services. This position will support complex, high-volume environments requiring continuous support to mitigate coverage gaps and single point of failure risks.
Responsibilities: - Take ownership of escalations and perform troubleshooting, analysis, research, and resolution using advanced query and programming skills
- Handle Problem/Incident Management, Operational Readiness, Application Monitoring, and Service Analytics and Reporting
- Manage Production Governance, Triage, Associate Support, and Change Configuration Management
- Solve production down situations under SLA deadlines, including root cause analysis and problem resolution follow-up
- Proactively identify, escalate, and address project issues and risks
- Coordinate with offshore/onshore teams and delegate work
- Facilitate meetings and moderate discussions
Requirements: - 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe COBOL developer
- Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS DB/DC, MQ Series, and Easytrieve
- Experience in Production Support, change management, and the use of incident management tools
- Experience with Endeavor and IBM problem determination tools such as File Manager and Fault Analyzer
- Experience with TSO, REXX, MarkIV, TWS, CA7, BMC utilities, and release management tools
- Knowledge of dump reading and transmission protocols (NDM, FTP)
- Experience with application support processes including incident management, release management, and risk governance
- Experience with SQL Database query language, Splunk, and other monitoring tool exposure
- Excellent problem-solving skills and entrepreneurial attitude
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
