Technology Support SpecialistOn-SitePosition OverviewA Technology Support Specialist is needed to provide hands-on support for hardware, software, and application environments. This role is responsible for maintaining devices, assisting with installations and upgrades, supporting system utilities, and coordinating issue resolution. The specialist will work directly with end users, troubleshoot technical problems, and ensure smooth operation of IT systems across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues, including identifying defective equipment before deployment.
- Resolve software and application problems and assist with updates or installations.
- Support system maintenance tasks such as configuration, upgrades, and data conversions.
- Assist with equipment setup, replacement, and general technical support needs.
- Provide basic support in network rooms, including equipment checks and cable organization.
- Coordinate issue resolution and escalate to other support teams when necessary.
- Maintain documentation related to equipment, software, and system changes.
- Communicate clearly with end users and provide guidance in a professional, customer-focused manner.
- Travel to various sites as needed to support users and equipment.
Skills & Attributes- Strong troubleshooting ability for both hardware and software issues.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while handling phone-based and in-person support.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable interacting with users at all organizational levels.
- General understanding of IT service management concepts.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Alternative paths:
- Associate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or
- High school diploma with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Technical certifications are a plus.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform tasks such as climbing ladders.
Work Environment- Standard business hours, Monday-Friday.
- Primarily office-based with required travel to additional sites.
- Direct interaction with a wide range of end users, including higher-level personnel.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Morehead, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
