Principal Product Designer (eCommerce) 

Job at a Glance

  • Location: REMOTE
  • Contract: W2 only, 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the eCommerce portfolio across the entire user journey, from search to post-purchase experiences.
  • Expand teammate understanding and application of human-centered design, stakeholder exposure, and involvement in HCD activities.
  • Leverage mixed-methods research to identify and understand user journeys and top problems.
  • Create and validate prototypes through experimentation, A/B testing, usability testing, and other methods.
  • Collaborate with software engineers using Homefield, the in-house design system, to communicate and implement designs.
  • Break down complex or ambiguous asks into clear, actionable plans.
  • Identify opportunities, propose solutions, and articulate tradeoffs/rationale while working cross-functionally.
  • Define end-to-end customer experiences through journey maps.
  • Drive alignment across organizational peers and stakeholders through effective facilitation and collaboration.
  • Influence cross-functional teams and leadership stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Oversee special assignments as required and participate in talent assessments and recruiting.

Required Skills

  • Advanced understanding of Product Design.
  • Comfortable operating across the entire product design process, including research, concept development, execution, and production follow-through.
  • Ability to independently conduct research and execute smaller optimization or iteration work.
  • Experience defining journey maps to define end-to-end customer experiences.
  • Experience with enterprise projects or complex strategic initiatives across multiple portfolios, products, and channels.
  • Strong problem-solving frameworks/methodologies.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle.
  • Portfolio demonstrating knowledge of human-centered design and proficiency across the product design process.
  • Operating within the Product Design organization within IT.
  • Experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Senior technical expertise within the portfolio.
  • Ability to oversee special assignments and participate in talent assessments.
  • Advocate within the Product Design Community of Practice.
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding or experience with Service Design and/or Experience Design is a plus.
