Job Description:
Overview:
Seeking an experienced OpenShift Kubernetes Engineer to design, implement, and maintain containerized infrastructure with a focus on automation and compute optimization. This role will test multiple network function applications for qualification to run on the Kubernetes platform, along with testing infrastructure automation readiness to validate the design can support Edge-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and manage OpenShift Container Platform clusters (on-premises).
- Develop automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, and GitOps practices.
- Optimize compute resource allocation, scaling, and performance tuning.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
- Configure and maintain cluster networking, storage, and security policies.
- Manage bare-metal compute infrastructure using vendor-specific tools.
- Deploy and configure applications for proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations on OpenShift.
- Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for new technologies
and workloads.
- Automate operational tasks including monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation including test cases and runbooks.
- Develop and automate test cases for infrastructure validation and deployment
Verification.
- Troubleshoot platform issues and provide technical support to development
Teams.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable deployments.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years hands-on experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes.
- Strong automation skills with Ansible, Python, or Bash scripting.
- Experience with infrastructure provisioning tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Deep understanding of container orchestration and compute resource management.
- Proficiency with Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS preferred).
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, BGP).
- Experience with compute infrastructure management tools:
- Dell: iDRAC, OpenManage Enterprise, Redfish API, DTIAS
- Cisco: UCS Manager, Intersight, IMC
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Experience with test automation frameworks (pytest, Robot Framework).
- Ability to create detailed test plans, test cases, and validation procedures.
- Experience deploying diverse application workloads (databases, web apps,
microservices).
- Ability to quickly learn and deploy new technologies for evaluation purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with bare-metal OpenShift deployments.
- Knowledge of service mesh (Istio, OpenShift Service Mesh).
- Familiarity with storage solutions (Ceph, OpenShift Data Foundation).
- Experience with multi-cluster management and GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux).
- Network automation experience (Ansible Network modules, NAPALM).
- Understanding of data center networking (spine-leaf, ToR switches).
- Experience with MetalLB, SR-IOV, or Multus CNI.
- Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured).
- Experience with Helm charts, Operators, and OperatorHub.
