Overview
Our client is looking to hire two Senior Data Architects to support continued evolution of its cloud data platform. The organization has successfully matured its ingestion architecture in recent years and is now pivoting toward a 2026 focus on data consumption, semantic modeling, and enterprise data products. This role centers on architectural strategy, enterprise modeling, and consumer enablement rather than pipeline implementation.
The environment is predominantly Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). While ingestion and transformation patterns are established, the next phase centers on building a scalable, discoverable, and well governed consumer layer. This includes defining semantic models, shaping data products, enabling secure data sharing, and prototyping emerging AI capabilities.
These roles are critical. The team is seeking senior level architects who can operate independently, challenge assumptions, bring enterprise perspective, and contribute both strategically and through hands on proof-of-concept work in innovation areas.
Role Expectations
- Shift architectural focus from ingestion enablement to user consumption enablement
- Define semantic models and ontologies for improved discoverability
- Help establish enterprise data sharing patterns
- Prototype AI driven capabilities to augment the consumer layer
- Bring fresh perspective and challenge existing architectural assumptions
- Contribute both conceptually and through targeted hands-on proof of concepts
- These are senior level roles. Candidates must demonstrate ambition, accountability, and engagement. The team is seeking individuals who are present, responsive during working hours, self-driven, and committed to the engagement.
Top Required Skills
- Enterprise Data Architecture Experience: Proven ability to design scalable cloud data platforms with strong understanding of ingestion, curation, modeling, governance, and consumption layers.
- Consumption Layer Design: Experience establishing consumer facing data architectures including semantic modeling, discoverability, ontology design, data sharing patterns, and secure access controls.
- Data Product Mindset: Background designing and organizing data into reusable, well defined data products aligned to business use cases.
- Cloud Platform Expertise (Google Cloud Platform Preferred): Strong architectural experience in Google Cloud Platform environments. Candidates with other cloud backgrounds are considered if they demonstrate deep cloud data architecture expertise.
- Data Governance and Security: Experience securing sensitive data, managing PII, and applying governance constructs such as tagging and classification frameworks.
- POC and Innovation Leadership: Ability to independently prototype new capabilities, evaluate emerging technologies, and present well-reasoned architectural recommendations.
- AI Enablement Experience: Exposure to conversational AI, AI driven analytics, or augmentation of data platforms with AI tools. Experience with emerging Google Cloud Platform capabilities such as DataPlex, conversational AI, or similar services is a plus.
- Retail Domain Experience (Preferred): Familiarity with retail data domains such as marketing analytics, orders, transactions, and customer data is highly beneficial.
