Job Description
We are seeking a Database Engineer Contractor to join our team supporting our client project. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in MongoDB, AWS PostgreSQL, ETL, and data modeling and a proven ability to architect and optimize databases, design migration pipelines, and enforce data quality and security.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize database systems to support storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Design and construct large relational databases to meet project requirements.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes integrating on-prem DB2 to AWS PostgreSQL and MongoDB using Precisely and Kafka pipelines.
- Model and architect MongoDB to support transformed data and downstream consumption.
- Optimize database performance and ensure efficient data retrieval.
- Implement and enforce database security to protect integrity and confidentiality.
- Perform regular data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in MongoDB, including schema design and performance tuning.
- Experience with AWS PostgreSQL and relational database design.
- Hands-on experience with data migration from DB2 to cloud databases.
- Proficiency with ETL and streaming pipelines using Precisely and Kafka.
- Knowledge of database security, data governance, and data quality practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with collaborative teamwork.
- 6-9 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with AWS services supporting data platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices.
Project Details
- Client plans to migrate on-prem DB2 to AWS PostgreSQL for raw data, then to MongoDB (AWS) as a transaction cache.
- Transformation rules will convert raw data to a consumer-friendly format stored in MongoDB for downstream applications.
- Project stage: Sold/Funded. No expenses permitted. Work must be performed within the United States.
