Role: Kafka Admin
Location: Hybrid Onsite Dallas TX, Jerseycity Nj and Tampa FL
Duration: Long term
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and manage Apache Kafka clusters in production and non-production environments.
- Design and maintain Kafka broker configurations, partitions, replication factors, and topic management strategies.
- Monitor Kafka cluster health, broker performance, and consumer lag using monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, etc.).
- Perform capacity planning and scaling of Kafka clusters to handle high message throughput.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies for Kafka clusters.
- Manage Kafka security configurations including SSL, SASL, ACLs, and role-based access controls.
- Troubleshoot broker failures, replication issues, ISR shrinkage, and performance bottlenecks.
- Configure and manage Kafka Connect, MirrorMaker, and Schema Registry (if applicable).
- Work closely with DevOps and application teams to optimize producer and consumer configurations.
- Automate Kafka deployment and maintenance using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Kubernetes.
- Perform upgrades, patching, and maintenance of Kafka clusters with minimal downtime.
Support event-driven architectures and ensure reliable data streaming across systems.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Apache Kafka administration (3+ years preferred)
Experience with Linux server environments
Understanding of distributed systems and messaging architectures
Knowledge of Zookeeper or KRaft mode architecture
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployments
Familiarity with AWS MSK, Azure Event Hubs, or Confluent Platform
Experience in log analysis and performance tuning
