Senior Controls Engineer - St. Clair, MI

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer

Venteon is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in St. Clair, MI

Requirements of the Senior Controls Engineer

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field , preferred
5-7 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, preferred
Experience Allen Bradley and Siemens and PLC/HMI systems
Industrial protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to North American Plants, including Mexico
Ability to setup, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC control systems and related accessories
Ability to setup, troubleshoot, and maintain VFD and Servo motor controls
Basic LAN knowledge and functionality (TCP/IP)
Basic LAN hardware knowledge (switches, cabling, routers)
Ability to perform Software installation/upgrading
Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems involving thermoforming, IR ovens, Hot Air ovens, Ultrasonic Welding, and robotics
Knowledge of safety systems and the integration of those systems.
Ability to communicate cross functionally with both plant and corporate teams

Responsibilities of the Senior Controls Engineer

Design, update, and continuously improve controls systems including robotics, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC logic, electrical distribution, motor controls, motion controls, operator interfaces, hydraulics and pneumatics controls, and vision systems
Integrate machine and plant networking solutions to provide remote access to equipment, equipment monitoring and data storage, and Poke-Yoke traceability
Able to work with OEMs to guarantee new equipment is designed and built to company s and national & local authority s safety and controls standards
Integrate various barcode reading and OCR systems into various equipment and secondary tooling
Coordinate in a professional and effective manner with all levels of management, engineering, maintenance, etc to ensure new equipment and upgrades are implemented in the best possible means
Candidate is expected to teach themselves functionality of new devices and controls systems as technology advances and equipment is updated
Manage timelines and costs with each project
Assist in identifying critical spares on new and current equipment.
Mentor and train plant controls engineers where applicable.
