Job Description
Ideally someone who doesn’t need to give a 2 weeks’ notice. They need these people to start in like a week and a half
NEED SOMEONE HERE THAT CAN HEAVILY LEVERAGE AI and has worked with Claude. Someone that is more legacy will not work out well here.
We're looking for a hands-on integration builder, not a configurator, with 8+ years of Oracle Cloud HCM integration experience. This person will design, develop, and deploy inbound/outbound integrations using HCM Extracts, HDL/HSDL, BI Publisher, OIC, and REST/SOAP APIs as part of a broader enterprise HCM initiative.

What makes this role different from a typical Oracle HCM posting:
- We require demonstrated proficiency with the AI-assisted development tool, Claude. This is non-negotiable, we're building integrations at 2-3x traditional velocity and need someone who operates at that pace.
- The candidate must be able to write XSLT, debug HDL load errors, and build OIC orchestrations, not just talk about them.
- Strong automation mindset, scripting, automated testing, self-documenting integrations.
JD
Role Summary
Design, build, deploy, and support high-throughput, AI-accelerated data exchanges between Oracle Cloud HCM and enterprise ecosystems, including payroll processors, benefits vendors, finance/ERP, identity & access management systems, data warehouses, and emerging AI/ML platforms. This role demands a builder's mindset: someone who doesn't just configure integrations, but engineers automated, self-healing, audit-ready pipelines that scale with organizational growth.
Core Responsibilities
1. Integration Design & Architecture
- Partner with business systems analysts to translate functional requirements, data mappings, and integration use cases into scalable technical designs.
- Architect inbound and outbound integration patterns using Oracle-native and hybrid approaches, HCM Extracts, HDL/HSDL, REST/SOAP APIs, FBDI, file-based integrations, and event-driven (Business Events / webhook) patterns.
- Author comprehensive Technical Design Documents with data lineage diagrams, error-handling matrices, volumetric analysis, and SLA definitions.
- Evaluate and recommend patterns based on data volume, latency requirements, and security constraints (real-time vs. batch vs. near-real-time).
- Design for idempotency, retry logic, and graceful degradation, every integration must be resilient by default.
2. Integration Development & Build
- Develop HCM Extracts (BIP-based and fast formula–driven) with optimized SQL and delivery configurations.
- Configure BI Publisher templates for outbound file generation, CSV, XML, fixed-width, with dynamic parameter-driven formatting.
- Build inbound data loads using HDL/HSDL with pre-validation logic, transformation layers, and automated error capture.
- Develop integration orchestrations in Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) Gen 2/3 or equivalent middleware, connections, mapping, error handling, and scheduling.
- Implement robust transformation and validation logic (cross-field validation, referential integrity checks, business rule enforcement) before data hits HCM, shift-left on data quality.
- Configure encryption (PGP/GPG), compression, SFTP delivery, and content-server staging with automated file-naming conventions.
- Build Business Events subscribers for real-time integration triggers (new hire, termination, job change events).
3. AI-Accelerated Development & Automation (New, Critical)
- Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate XSLT/XSL-FO template development, Groovy scripting in OIC, and HDL file generation, achieving 2–3× velocity without sacrificing correctness.
- Use AI to auto-generate unit test payloads, edge-case HDL files, and regression test datasets from existing data dictionaries and mapping specs.
- Apply AI for rapid TDD/runbook authoring, draft technical design documents, error-handling procedures, and handover documentation from integration specifications with human review and refinement.
- Build or adopt automated validation frameworks, AI-powered log parsers that triage HDL load errors, extract failures, and ESS job exceptions, surfacing root causes in minutes rather than hours.
- Develop self-documenting integrations, automated generation of data flow diagrams, field mapping matrices, and change-impact summaries from code/configuration artifacts.
- Create intelligent monitoring dashboards with anomaly detection for integration health, volume drift, timing anomalies, error rate spikes, not just reactive alert-and-fix.
- Automate release note generation and commit message standardization for integration deployments.
4. Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform thorough unit testing with positive, negative, boundary, and volumetric test scenarios.
- Support SIT and UAT cycles in close coordination with HCM functional and technical teams.
- Build automated regression test suites for critical integrations, every deployment runs against a known-good baseline.
- Validate data integrity end-to-end: source system → transformation → HCM staging → HCM tables → downstream consumers.
5. Troubleshooting & Production Support
- Diagnose HDL load errors (entity-level, attribute-level, referential) using import process logs, HCM Data Loader monitoring, and UCM content inspection.
- Troubleshoot HCM Extract failures, ESS job errors, BIP template issues, delivery channel failures, data-driven exceptions.
- Support defect triage with root-cause analysis discipline, distinguish data issues from configuration issues from platform issues.
- Automate recurring triage patterns, if you're solving the same category of issue three times, build a script or runbook that eliminates it permanently.
6. Compliance, Audit & Security
- Ensure integrations meet SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, and internal audit standards, data masking, access controls, encryption at rest and in transit.
- Maintain audit trail evidence: integration run logs, data transformation records, error resolution documentation.
- Support audit evidence requests with pre-built, queryable integration audit packages, always audit-ready.
- Implement data classification awareness in integration design, PII, PHI, and sensitive compensation data must have explicit handling protocols.
7. Cutover, Hypercare & Knowledge Transfer
- Execute cutover integration runs with documented rollback procedures.
- Support hypercare-phase issue resolution with defined escalation paths and SLA-driven response.
- Provide structured knowledge transfer, recorded walkthroughs, decision trees, and operational runbooks.
- Deliver comprehensive handover documentation: architecture diagrams, operational procedures, error-handling guides, and dependency maps.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- HCM Functional & Technical Consultants, requirements alignment, data model validation, configuration dependencies
- Security & Identity Teams, SSO, role-based access, encryption standards, certificate management
- Middleware / Integration Teams, OIC orchestration, API gateway policies, credential rotation
- PMO & Release Management, deployment scheduling, change management, release readiness
- Data & Analytics Teams, data warehouse feed design, OTBI/BIP reporting alignment, data lake ingestion patterns
Key Skills & Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of hands-on Oracle Cloud HCM integrations development (not just configuration, actual build experience).
- Deep understanding of the Oracle HCM data model, person, assignment, employment, position, organization, and payroll entities and their interdependencies.
- Expert-level proficiency in HCM Extracts (BIP-based, fast formula, SQL-driven) and HDL/HSDL (all major business objects, including complex objects like Element Entries, Salary, Benefits).
- Strong OIC Gen 2/3 or equivalent middleware experience, connections, orchestrations, mappings, error handling, scheduling, API-based integrations.
- Fluency in XML, XSLT, XSL-FO, JSON, REST, SOAP, not just awareness, but the ability to write, debug, and optimize.
- BI Publisher template development, RTF, XSL-FO, sub-templates, bursting configurations.
- Strong debugging, log analysis, and root-cause analytical skills.
AI & Automation Proficiency (Critical)
- Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) to accelerate integration development, testing, and documentation.
- Ability to write effective prompts for code generation, data transformation logic, test data creation, and documentation drafting.
- Mindset of "automate the repetitive, focus human effort on the complex", measurable track record of reducing manual effort through scripting, tooling, or AI augmentation.
- Familiarity with scripting for automation, Python, Shell/Bash, Groovy, or PowerShell for integration support tasks, file manipulation, and log analysis.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with Oracle Business Events for real-time integration triggers.
- Knowledge of Oracle VBCS for lightweight integration UIs.
- Familiarity with the Oracle Fusion REST API catalog, pagination, query parameters, expand patterns, bulk operations.

- Understanding of Oracle EPM, ERP, or SCM Cloud integration touchpoints with HCM.
- CI/CD awareness, version control for integration artifacts, environment promotion practices.
- Experience supporting M&A or large-scale data migration integration scenarios.
What Sets an Exceptional Candidate Apart
- You treat every manual process as a bug to be fixed, if it can be automated, you automate it.
- You've used AI tools to cut a 3-day integration build to 1 day and can articulate exactly how.
- You build integrations that operators can support without calling you, self-documenting, well-logged, clearly error messaged.
- You think in data flows, not just file transfers, understanding upstream and downstream impact of every field you move.
- You've been through at least one major Oracle Cloud HCM implementation or upgrade cycle end-to-end.
- You can explain a complex integration architecture to both a developer and a VP in the same meeting.
This role is designed for someone who combines deep Oracle HCM integration expertise with a modern, AI-augmented engineering mindset, delivering enterprise-grade integrations at startup speed.
