Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, GI procedures, consultations, and follow-up visits.
- Answer incoming calls and assist patients with scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment-related inquiries.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information prior to appointments.
- Coordinate procedure scheduling with physicians, facilities, and ancillary departments.
- Communicate preparation instructions and appointment details to patients.
- Confirm appointments and perform reminder calls or electronic outreach as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and scheduling information within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Obtain and review referrals, authorizations, and required documentation when applicable.
- Monitor provider schedules and optimize appointment availability and workflow.
- Provide exceptional customer service while supporting a positive patient experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of medical scheduling, patient access, healthcare administrative or any type of scheduling or coordination experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, courteous, and patient-centered approach.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
