Location: Dallas, TX 75% of the time will be in the Data Center, 25% will be work from home.
There isn't currently an office at the data center so the tech will be out on the datahall floor for the time they are onsite.
Position Overview
This position supports data center integration, hardware deployment, and operational activities for a large-scale cloud services environment. The technician will work approximately 75 percent onsite in a Dallas data center and 25 percent from home. There is no office space within the data center. All onsite work will be performed on the data hall floor. Weekly travel to the Dallas data center is required.
Responsibilities
Oversee site integration teams performing physical installation of server and network infrastructure in lab and production data center environments based on documented standards
Assist with physical installation activities when needed
Set up and configure server operating systems for Linux, Windows and KVM environments
Perform triage and hardware diagnostics on deployed devices
Replace failed hardware components and field replaceable units
Maintain inventory of spare parts
Manage inbound and outbound shipping of devices and equipment
Perform basic configuration of network switch devices
Configure rack PDU equipment
Build and maintain documentation detailing system configurations
Update monitoring systems to reflect current infrastructure
Collaborate with automation and provisioning teams to define calibration, burn?in and hardware validation procedures
Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills
Five or more years of experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux and Windows operating systems in global or large scale environments
Hands on experience with server hardware components including BIOS, firmware, IPMI, burn?in processes, memory and CPU testing
Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, SMB, HTTP, NFS, FTP, SNMP and DHCP
Proficiency with switch setup including interface configuration, VLANs and access or trunk port configuration
Ability to quickly learn and evaluate new technologies
Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with development, server, storage and security teams
Bachelor s degree or equivalent combination of education and technical training
Certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA A+ are preferred
