Identity & Access Management (IAM) Project Manager

Role Summary

The IAM Project Manager leads the planning and delivery of enterprise Identity and Access Management initiatives to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient access to systems, applications, and data. This role coordinates across Security, IT, Application Owners, HR, and Compliance to execute IAM programs that reduce access risk while supporting business agility.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of IAM programs and projects, including scope, roadmap, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, HR, Application Owners, Vendors) to drive IAM outcomes.
  • Manage initiatives across identity lifecycle management (joiner/mover/leaver), access provisioning, RBAC/ABAC, and privileged access.
  • Establish and enforce governance for access certifications, risk acceptance, and exception handling.
  • Drive execution of identity controls aligned to regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Track and report executive-level metrics (access coverage, certification completion, policy compliance, risk reduction).
  • Manage remediation of access risks, including orphaned accounts, over-privileged access, and segregation-of-duties issues.
  • Own stakeholder communications, escalations, and status reporting.
  • Manage vendors and implementation partners to meet delivery, quality, and security expectations.
  • Ensure documentation, audit readiness, and operational handoff to support teams.

Typical Background (High Level)

  • 7–10+ years of experience in project or program management within cybersecurity or enterprise IT
  • Experience delivering IAM, IGA, or access governance initiatives
  • Familiarity with enterprise IAM platforms (tool-agnostic)
  • Proven experience supporting audits, compliance, and regulatory reviews
