Data Scientist with GenAI and Python

Job Summary:

Dexian is seeking a Data Scientist with GenAI and Python for an opportunity with a client located in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build machine learning systems and pipelines, from data ingestion to model deployment in production environments


• Research and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools, leveraging expertise in Python libraries like NumPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, or PyTorch


• Select, preprocess, and transform data using techniques like cleaning, transformation, and integration to ensure integrity for model training and evaluation


• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, utilizing Agile principles and tools such as Jira for project tracking, sprint planning, and managing project scope


• Architect and maintain cloud-based AI solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud AI), ensuring efficient deployment, scaling, monitoring, and performance optimization of AI-driven applications


• Stay current with the latest developments in AI/ML, including Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), to drive innovation and explore new capabilities


• Own services end-to-end, including design, implementation, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and on-call support

Requirements:

• Proven hands-on experience implementing Gen AI project using open source LLMs (Llama, GPT OSS, Gemma, Mistral) and proprietary API's (OpenAI, Anthropic)


• Strong background in Retrieval Augmented Generation implementations


• In depth understanding of embedding models and their applications


• Hands on experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions on text data


• Strong Python development skills. Should be comfortable with Pandas and NumPy for data analysis and feature engineering


• Experience building and integrating APIs (REST, FastAPI, Flask) for serving models


• Fine tuning and optimizing open source LLM/SLM is a big plus


• Knowledge of Agentic AI frameworks and Orchestration


• Experience in ML and Deep Learning is an advantage


• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)


• Experience working with Agile Methodology


• Strong problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills


• Ability to work effectively in a team environment


• Strong written and oral communication skills


• Should have the ability to clearly express ideas
