Senior UX Specialist

Role Summary

The Senior UX Specialist supports mission-critical software modernization initiatives within a complex enterprise environment. This role leads user experience activities, including user research, journey mapping, requirements definition, usability testing, and accessibility. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop intuitive and accessible digital solutions that align with human-centered design principles and applicable accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead user experience activities, including research, design recommendations, and requirements gathering.
• Develop and document standardized processes for UX research, journey mapping, and requirements definition to promote consistency across projects.
• Conduct user research and stakeholder interviews and develop user personas to inform product and development decisions.
• Design, map, and document end-to-end user journeys to identify pain points and translate findings into actionable software requirements.
• Conduct usability testing on applications and prototypes, analyze user feedback, and recommend improvements to interfaces and workflows.
• Support compliance with applicable accessibility requirements and standards, including Section 508 and WCAG.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product delivery, engineering, and systems architecture, to support user-centered design implementation.
• Advocate for end users by translating complex business and operational workflows into clear, functional digital experiences.
• Develop and maintain standardized UX workflows and documentation to support consistent and scalable design practices.
• Communicate design strategies, research findings, recommendations, and project progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 to 9 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in UX design, user research, or digital strategy within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience developing user personas, conducting user and stakeholder interviews, and mapping complex user journeys.
• Experience planning and conducting usability testing for applications or prototypes.
• Strong knowledge of human-centered design principles and their application within Agile and Scrum environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience documenting design frameworks, research findings, and presentations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination.
• Experience with UX/UI design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Axure.
• Experience collaborating with development teams to balance technical feasibility, business requirements, and user needs.
• Working knowledge of accessibility requirements and standards, including Section 508 and WCAG.

Publishing Pay Range: USD $100,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 Annually

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from any approved location within the United States.
