Senior Network Installation Technician

Location: Fort Meade, MD (Extensive Travel Required)

Program: Defense Enclave Services (DES)

Project Duration: July 2026 - August 2027

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required (U.S. Citizenship Required)

Opportunity

The Defense Enclave Services (DES) contract is modernizing and consolidating IT services across the DoD Fourth Estate under DISA's Fourth Estate Network Optimization initiative. This role will support large-scale network infrastructure migration, installation, and modernization efforts through site surveys, network design, structured cabling, and deployment activities in both classified and unclassified environments.

The selected candidate will support network infrastructure projects including new installations, lifecycle replacement initiatives, cable plant deployments, and wireless network installations while ensuring compliance with NIST, TEMPEST, and DoD standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Travel extensively (90-100%) to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Lead network surveys, infrastructure design, and installation activities.
  • Conduct site surveys of customer network environments.
  • Install, configure, connect, test, and troubleshoot:
    • Switches
    • Routers
    • Firewalls
    • Wireless Access Points (WAPs)
    • Wireless Controllers
  • Develop detailed site survey reports including:
    • Existing infrastructure assessments
    • NIST and TEMPEST compliance evaluations
    • Design recommendations
  • Install, certify, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems.
  • Build and install equipment racks and supporting infrastructure.
  • Install, terminate, label, dress, and test Cat6 and fiber optic cabling.
  • Support SIPR and NIPR network infrastructure environments.
  • Create network documentation, certification reports, rack elevations, and topology diagrams.
  • Develop Bills of Material (BOMs) for network deployments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and lifecycle replacement activities.
  • Investigate and resolve physical network infrastructure issues.
  • Provide status updates and project reporting to stakeholders.
  • Support after-hours deployment and maintenance activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted for degree requirements).
  • Experience with structured cabling systems, including Cat6 and fiber installation and testing.
  • Understanding of ANSI/TIA-568 and ANSI/TIA-569 standards.
  • Knowledge of Protective Distribution Systems (PDS) for classified environments.
  • Familiarity with NTISSI 7003 requirements.
  • Knowledge of DISA network standards and topologies.
  • Experience creating network topology diagrams and rack elevations using Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience using OTDRs, cable testers, certification tools, and network sniffers.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 90-100%.

  • BICSI Certification
  • Security+ Certification
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Experience supporting TEMPEST-compliant environments
  • Experience working within DoD or DISA network infrastructures
