Position Summary:
The Licensing Manager is responsible for building, managing, and scaling Client''s provider licensing function across all operating states. This role operates initially as a hands-on individual contributor, owning the full lifecycle of provider licensing while establishing the processes, systems, and operational structure required to support organizational growth. This position serves as the functional owner of licensing operations, ensuring providers maintain active, compliant licensure in alignment with state and federal regulations, telehealth requirements, and organizational coverage needs. As the licensing function matures, this role will transition into a people leadership position, with responsibility for hiring, developing, and managing a team of Licensing Specialists. The Licensing Manager partners closely with Clinical Operations, Provider Recruiting, Compliance, and Human Resources to ensure licensing activities support onboarding, scheduling, compliance, and expansion initiatives.
Qualifications Required
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field; significant professional experience in multi-state provider licensing and demonstrated operational ownership may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Minimum 5 years of provider licensing experience, including multi-state licensing exposure
• Minimum 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Skills & Competencies
• Thorough understanding of state licensing regulations, telehealth compliance requirements, and provider licensure processes across multiple jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated experience building, optimizing, or scaling operational workflows or programs
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards and operational compliance practices.
• Proficiency in licensing, credentialing, and provider database management systems.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
Preferred
• Certification in healthcare credentialing (e.g., Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist - CPCS, Certified
Professional Medical Services Management - CPMSM).
• Experience in provider licensing for telehealth or multi-state healthcare organizations.
