The primary role of Database Engineer is to design, implement, manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, Postgres and MySQL databases. Key deliverables include but not limited to providing support to application DBA tasks such as database cloning, patching, migration, performance tuning, cost optimization and database migration.

Responsibilities include but not limited to :

1. Maintaining and enhancing the performance of existing database programs.
2. Assisting database development and Product Development teams in designing new database programs that meet the organization's needs.
3. Identifying bottlenecks and resolving them by tuning queries, implementing indexing strategies, and adjusting resource allocation.
4. Regularly updating and patching database software, managing upgrades, and ensuring high availability.
5. Implementing access controls (like RBAC), encryption, and ensuring the database meets regulatory standards like HIPAA or GDPR.
6. Establishing robust protocols for data backups and disaster recovery to prevent data loss.
7. Design database solutions like Database as a service to deploy database platforms.
8. Automate the database tasks like database file growths, lambdas to turn off non-prod clusters etc.
9. On-call support for the databases.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
