About the Role
Our client, a leading manufacturer and supplier in the natural stone industry, is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to help transform enterprise data into trusted, actionable insights. This organization has invested heavily in building a modern data foundation and is now seeking a data professional to lead the development of a business-facing analytics ecosystem.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the organization's data strategy from the ground up. You will establish data modeling standards, own the transformation layer, develop certified data assets, and create the KPIs and reporting solutions that guide business decisions across operations, sales, production, logistics, and other key functions.
Working within a collaborative Business Intelligence team, you will partner with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics solutions that improve data accessibility, governance, and decision-making throughout the organization.

Job Description
As the Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining enterprise data models and reporting solutions within a modern medallion architecture. You will serve as the primary owner of the organization's transformation and semantic data layers, ensuring data is accurate, governed, and easily consumable by business users.
Responsibilities
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize the dbt environment used for enterprise data transformation.
  • Design and develop dbt models that transform data across bronze, silver, and gold layers, including testing, monitoring, and quality controls.
  • Build and maintain curated, business-facing data models that support reporting and analytics initiatives.
  • Develop certified data assets, including data dictionaries, metric definitions, refresh schedules, and governance standards.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for data modeling, naming conventions, testing, documentation, and source control.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define metrics, and translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
  • Centralize business logic and KPI calculations within the data layer to ensure consistency across reporting platforms.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and performance metrics for business teams across the organization.
  • Identify data quality issues and collaborate with system owners to improve data accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the enterprise data warehouse and analytics platform.
  • Collaborate with project management and IT teams to estimate effort, define technical approaches, and deliver prioritized initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and occasional training to business users on certified data sources and reporting capabilities.

Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including development, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex queries.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling principles, including facts, dimensions, and grain.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations using platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather business requirements, manage priorities, and deliver projects through completion.
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong judgment and critical thinking abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience with Tableau, including certified data source management and governance.
  • Experience working with ERP-sourced data; exposure to JD Edwards is a plus.
  • Experience supporting medallion or layered data architectures.
  • Knowledge of modern data transformation, testing, and data quality frameworks.
  • Python or other scripting experience for data preparation and automation.
  • Experience within manufacturing, production, industrial, supply chain, or distribution environments.
  • Experience establishing data governance, certification standards, and enterprise reporting best practices.
