We are seeking an experienced and outstanding QA Mobile Automation Engineer for one of our esteemed clients.
Role: Sr QA Mobile Automation Engineer
Location: Irving TX

The Sr. QA Automation Engineer will help modernize client’s Technology/RIS2.0 platform by designing and executing automated quality strategies for cloud-based, web, API, and Android solutions. This role collaborates with Engineering, Product, Support, and Customer Success teams to identify business risks, improve testability, and keep store technology platforms and services reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify business and technical risks and contribute to user story definition and acceptance criteria.
- Define, review, and execute test strategies, test plans, and test cases across functional and non-functional requirements.
- Design and build scalable automation frameworks from the ground up using Appium and UIAutomator2 for Android applications, Selenium WebDriver or Cypress for web testing, and Karate or REST Assured for API automation.
- Automate Android application workflows and conduct application profiling and performance analysis using Android Studio Profiler, ADB, Perfetto, and Firebase Test Lab.
- Validate device capabilities such as Wi-Fi signal strength and Bluetooth operation and create reusable tools that simplify future hardware testing.
- Perform API functional, performance, and load testing using JMeter, Gatling, or k6, and analyze platform reliability, throughput, latency, and resource utilization.
- Integrate automated tests into Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines and maintain clear quality reporting.
- Collaborate with engineering and non-engineering teams in a Scrum environment to investigate defects and drive timely resolution.

- Apply a hands-on quality mindset by testing collaboratively, challenging assumptions, and improving automation coverage continuously.

Years of Experience
- 7+ years of professional experience in QA automation.
- 1+ year of hands-on testing experience with MongoDB, Node.js, and AWS services
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
Top three must-have qualifications are shown in bold.
- 6+ years of QA automation experience, including building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch for Android, web, API & Load testing.
- Hands-on Android application automation experience using Appium and UIAutomator2, including device performance testing and profiling with Android Studio Profiler, ADB, Perfetto, or equivalent tools.
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript or Java, or a comparable language, with hands-on experience in API automation and performance/load-testing frameworks such as Karate, REST Assured, JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
- Experience defining and reviewing test plans, test cases, and risk-based quality strategies.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications (Desired but Not Required)
- Hands-on database testing experience across MongoDB including query validation, schema and index verification, data migration testing, transaction consistency, and performance analysis.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools to accelerate automation development, refactoring, test generation, debugging, and documentation while applying appropriate code review and data-security controls.
- Strong test-data management and data-mocking experience, including synthetic data generation, masking or anonymization of sensitive data, repeatable dataset creation, and environment-specific data setup.
- Experience with API and dependency mocking or service virtualization using tools such as WireMock, MockServer, Mockito, or equivalent frameworks to simulate unavailable, unstable, or third-party services.
- Experience validating event-driven and asynchronous integrations, including message queues, retries, timeouts, failure scenarios, and eventual consistency.
- Experience using observability platforms and cloud telemetry to correlate application logs, metrics, traces, and test results during performance and reliability testing.
- Experience testing mobile and web applications through proxy, latency simulation, and troubleshooting network issues.
- Hands-on experience testing scalable, cloud-native platforms built on AWS services such as Amazon S3, Kinesis, AWS IoT Core, Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch, including high-volume data ingestion, event processing, data durability, resiliency, retry behavior, and failure recovery.
- Experience testing device capabilities such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, barcode scanning, battery consumption, offline behavior, and intermittent network conditions.
- Retail, store technology, or other high-availability customer-facing platform experience.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Relevant software testing or cloud certifications are beneficial but not required.
Preferred Industry Experience
- Convenience retail, store technology, digital commerce, or other high-availability customer-facing technology environments.
