Job Description: AI Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an AI Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power AI and machine learning applications. The ideal candidate will have experience building APIs, integrating AI/ML models, optimizing backend services, and developing cloud-based solutions to support intelligent applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for AI-powered applications.
• Build and manage RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Integrate machine learning models, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI services into backend applications.
• Develop data pipelines for model inference and processing.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and frontend developers to deploy AI solutions.
• Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL) for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
• Prepare technical documentation and follow software development best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Experience with backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, Spring Boot, Express.js, or similar.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience integrating AI/ML models and LLM APIs.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face Transformers, or similar.
• Knowledge of message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with MLOps tools and model deployment.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Understanding of AI security, data privacy, and responsible AI practices.
