Summary

Immediate need for a talented Manufacturing Engineer / CAM Programmer. This is a 06 months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Costa Mesa, CA(Onsite). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.

Job ID: 26-34792

Pay Range: $130/hr - $140/hour.  Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Join a rapidly growing Maritime Digital Production team building real-time data, manufacturing execution, scheduling, and AI systems that power shipbuilding factories. Help shape model-based manufacturing from the ground up as the team scales to 70 engineers across multiple U.S. sites.
  • Department: Maritime Digital Production, Heavy Metal division
  • About The Job
  • Help build the manufacturing methods and standards that turn engineering data into production-ready instructions—and use real production results to improve the next build.
  • You will define how NX models and Technical Data Packages drive process plans, work instructions, verified CAM programs, control plans, and AS9102 First Article Inspection records within Forge and the MES.
  • This is a hands-on role: you will personally author process definitions, method sheets, and standard work, then validate them on real hardware. Candidates should bring deep expertise in at least two of these areas and working knowledge across the others.
  • What You'll Do
  • Build the methods and standards that turn Technical Data Packages and manufacturing data into process plans and work instructions in Forge.
  • Establish CAM programming standards covering model-based creation, simulation, verification, approval, release, revision control, and controlled delivery to machine tools.
  • Define how cutting parameters are qualified, optimized, released, and traced.
  • Develop methods for control plans, reaction plans, AS9102 First Article Inspections, and Measurement System Analysis requirements.
  • Connect as-measured production data to digital part records and use the results to improve future manufacturing processes.
  • Define MES workflow automation and mistake-proofing rules; identify tool gaps and write actionable requirements with acceptance criteria.
  • Assess manufacturing maturity, develop improvement roadmaps, and train manufacturing engineers, CAM programmers, and process engineers.
  • Support design reviews, production readiness reviews, and supplier assessments, documenting findings and follow-up actions.
  • What This Role Does Not Own
  • CAM program production — define the governing process; CAM programmers execute it
  • Physical process execution or machine operation
  • Software development of Forge, Teamcenter, or NX — requirements feed those teams
  • Product design authority or disposition authority on nonconforming hardware
  • Physical tooling or fixturing procurement
  • Engineering management — no direct reports

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

  • Physics-based toolpath or cutting-parameter optimization experience — calibrating an optimization model against measured spindle and tooling data
  • NX staged model consumption, PMI reading, and model-based process planning; Teamcenter at the item revision and dataset level
  • DNC systems and machine-level program version control in a production environment
  • As-measured data use in a manufacturing context — feeding dimensional results, in-process readings, or surface scan data back to process decisions
  • Forge or comparable MES platform for process plan and work instruction authoring; FAI structure and closure within that environment
  • Shipbuilding, submarine, aerospace structures, or another large discrete assembly environment with complex multi-level process structure
  • Greenfield or scaling manufacturing environment — building process governance from scratch
  • Digital twin methods applied to manufactured parts — populating as-built model from inspection data to drive process optimization.
  • 8 or more years in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or CAM in a highly regulated discrete manufacturing environment — with recent years owning methods development and standard work authoring, not production execution
  • Hands-on CAM programming proficiency — personally built programs that ran on a production machine, not reviewed programs others built
  • Working knowledge of machining simulation and verification — ability to define what a simulation must prove and the pass criterion
  • Authored and maintained controlled standard work released under formal change control and tied to item revisions — personally owned the governing document
  • Working knowledge of control plan and reaction plan authoring under AIAG or AS9100 framework FAI under AS9102 — content requirements, characteristic coverage, and structure against the process plan
  • Measurement systems analysis — planned and executed Gauge R&R studies and can interpret results for control plan decisions
  • Model-based definition fluency — NX staged models, PMI, TDP structure, characteristic traceability from design through process planning
