Role Summary
· Client is seeking a hands-on IT Specialist to support a secure, on-prem defense environment. This role blends end-user support, server administration, and network operations, with a strong emphasis on security, compliance (NIST/CMMC), and infrastructure reliability.
· The ideal candidate is a strong generalist who can troubleshoot across desktops, servers, and networks, partner closely with cybersecurity, and operate effectively in a regulated ITAR-controlled defense environment.
This is a fully onsite role due to the nature of the systems and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user hardware and software
· Provide direct technical support to non-IT users, including data transfers and access issues
· Build, maintain, and support physical and virtual server environments
- Windows Server
- Ubuntu Linux
- Proxmox (virtualization)
· Oversee network operations, including:
- Systems administration
- Backups and restores
- Capacity planning and performance monitoring
- Ubiquiti network infrastructure
· Develop and maintain server and infrastructure SOPs
· Support data, system, and network security
· Administer Active Directory and Microsoft 365 / Entra ID
· Partner closely with the Cybersecurity Analyst to support compliance initiatives
· Maintain compliance with NIST / CMMC System Security Plan (SSP)
· Act as the IT liaison for the Defense business unit, including participation in leadership stand-ups
· Provide regular status updates and reporting to leadership
· Support evaluation and implementation of new technologies and applications
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field
· U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR compliance)
· 5+ years of progressive IT experience supporting:
- Networks
- Servers
- Secure on-prem environments
· Strong troubleshooting skills across:
- Windows desktops and servers
- Linux (Ubuntu)
- Network infrastructure
· Experience with capacity planning, monitoring, and performance tuning
· Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business users
Preferred Qualifications
· 7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience
· Experience supporting NIST 800-171 and/or CMMC compliance
· Security, server, or infrastructure certifications
· Experience in regulated or defense environments
