Summary

About this Position: Job Title: Full Stack WordPress Developer Responsibilities:
  • Experience developing and maintaining WordPress multisites.

  • Recommend solutions and collaborate with SPS web services team to maintain sites and solve technical issues.

  • Support DevOps processes around testing, deployment/release management, and uptime issues; Setup and tuning of monitoring systems including ThousandEyes, New Relic, and Solarwinds.

  • Configure and maintain WordPress CMS for security and performance.

  • Maintain version control for WordPress core, themes, 3rd party plugins for performance and security.

  • Reporting and Measurement: status reporting, performance measurement, and retrospectives.

  • Create, maintain, and backup databases.

  • Participate in planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new website-based initiatives including new feature development or troubleshooting existing features (Upgraded Versions, Third-Party Solutions, integration with additional Enterprise Systems).

  • Ensuring cross-platform compatibility, responsive design, and performance analysis and optimization.

  • Communicating effectiveness of emerging technologies to decision makers.

  • Ensuring security, maintenance, and scalability when developing solutions.

  • Knowledge of WordPress security and WP plugin security. Support patching WP/WP plugins on a regular cadence (or as needed based on risks presented by disclosed vulnerabilities).

  • Ensuring accessibility WCAG 2.1AA.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a full stack WordPress developer.

  • At least five (5) years professional experience in web development.

  • Development using PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS/HTML5.

  • Experience working with source control tools such as GIT.

  • Development experience working with APIs and RESTful services.

  • Commitment to universal design and accessibility; Strong understanding of web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG).

  • Navigate mid-project and post web development projects.

  • Experience managing business improvement projects.

  • Excellent organization and project management skills.

  • Relationship development and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong communications and facilitation skills.

  • Critical/analytical thinking and problem solving.

  • High energy level, strong team player, and good work ethic.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Curiosity towards new technology and outstanding ability to analyze and solve problems.

Secondary Qualifications (Nice to Have):
  • Experience in a K-12 Academic environment.

  • Experience in a public agency.
