Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controls Systems Engineer with a strong background in Power Generation and industrial automation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs, developing HMI/SCADA applications, and supporting system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, test, debug, and optimize control logic on Allen-Bradley Logix PLC platforms.
- Develop PLC logic for sequencing, interlocks, alarms, fault handling, and fail-safe operations.
- Implement subsystem interfaces and data exchange with supervisory control systems.
- Configure communication loss detection and other fail-safe mechanisms.
- Support HMI integration through PLC tags, diagnostics, and control logic.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), system integration, commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting.
- Perform I/O checks and take ownership of assigned control panel areas through high-volume testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:
- Control panel wiring
- Hardware components
- Industrial networks and communications
- PLC logic and programming
- Read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and logic diagrams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams while adhering to established engineering standards.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on PLC programming experience using Allen-Bradley Logix.
- 7+ years of HMI/SCADA development experience with FactoryTalk View.
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, particularly EtherNet/IP.
- Experience commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting industrial control systems.
- Ability to independently perform commissioning and startup activities.
- Strong understanding of electrical drawings, control logic diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Power Generation, Energy, Utilities, or Industrial Automation projects.
- Hands-on experience with system commissioning, FAT/SAT, and plant startup activities.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and control system best practices.
