Summary

Title: UAT Tester III
Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid)

Job Description:

As a valued contributor to our Single-Family Technology organization, you will serve as a UAT Tester III supporting applications and services within the Loan Delivery and Loan Acquisition ecosystem. This role ensures the quality, stability, and reliability of mortgage technology solutions that support loan acquisition and delivery.

You will collaborate with business partners, product owners, developers, and quality engineering teams to validate complex business processes, mortgage data integrations, and end-to-end system workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong quality engineering expertise with mortgage industry knowledge and hands-on experience in automation, API testing, and backend validation.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The UAT Tester III role will offer you the flexibility to make a meaningful impact while working alongside cross-functional teams to deliver the following responsibilities:

Quality Engineering & Testing

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and testing strategies for Loan Delivery and Loan Acquisition applications.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, end-to-end, and acceptance testing.
  • Validate business workflows supporting mortgage loan delivery, loan acquisition, investor reporting, and downstream integrations.
  • Analyze requirements and technical specifications to identify testing scope, risks, dependencies, and test coverage needs.
  • Develop and execute automated test solutions to improve testing efficiency and quality outcomes.

Automation Engineering

  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, and BDD/Gherkin methodologies.
  • Develop reusable automation assets and regression suites.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase automation coverage across applications and services.

API & Data Validation

  • Perform API testing using REST-based services and validate business transactions across integrated applications.
  • Design and execute backend database validations using Oracle SQL.
  • Analyze complex data flows and perform extensive data reconciliation across systems.
  • Validate XML files and mortgage-specific data structures exchanged between applications.

Mortgage Business Testing

  • Support testing of Single-Family applications related to:
    • Loan Delivery
    • Loan Acquisition
    • Loan Eligibility Validation
    • Mortgage Data Management
    • Investor Delivery Processes
    • Loan Certification and Quality Controls
  • Validate business rules governing loan acquisition and delivery transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with established mortgage data standards and business requirements.

Agile Delivery

  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and Operations teams to ensure successful delivery of functionality.
  • Document testing results, defects, quality metrics, and release readiness assessments.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvements and quality engineering best practices.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Visual Studio Code extensions to improve productivity, accelerate test design, and support problem-solving activities.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance quality, efficiency, and team effectiveness.
  • Promote a quality-first mindset throughout the software development lifecycle.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experience

  • 5+ years of software testing and quality assurance experience.
  • 5+ years of experience testing enterprise-level applications.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and quality engineering practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale business-critical applications.

Desired Experience

  • Mortgage industry experience with a strong understanding of:
    • Loan Origination
    • Underwriting
    • Loan Delivery
    • Loan Acquisition
    • Secondary Mortgage Market operations
    • Mortgage data standards
  • Experience working within Fannie Mae Single-Family technology environments.
  • Experience testing Loan Delivery, Acquisitions, Eligibility, or related mortgage systems.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loan lifecycle and loan data validation processes.

  • Experience performing complex backend and database testing.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based application architectures and modern testing practices.
