Job Description:

The Senior Power BI / Fabric Platform Engineer is responsible for leading enterprise-scale Power BI and Microsoft Fabric platform optimization, governance, and environment separation initiatives.
This role focuses on transitioning assets from development to production, implementing governance controls, and ensuring stable, high-performance reporting environments.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Power BI semantic modeling, enterprise deployments, governance frameworks, and production release management.

Responsibilities:

Assess existing Power BI reports, datasets, and dataflows.
Refactor and adjust models to align with Development and Production standards.
Transition semantic models and reports into the Production environment.
Validate data accuracy, performance, and stability post-migration.
Optimize models for shared capacity usage.
Document dependencies, assumptions, and promotion criteria.
Partner with platform engineers to ensure smooth deployments.

Platform Setup and Governance:

Implement and scale Power BI (Fabric) capacity.
Establish and document clear Dev and Prod environment separation.
Configure workspace strategies aligned with environment boundaries.
Enable controlled promotion of assets from Dev to Prod.
Implement governance controls for access management, approvals, and auditing.
Align platform setup with the client s Data and Analytics operating model.
Ensure minimal disruption to existing business reporting.

Asset Transition and Delivery:

Inventory and assess existing Power BI assets.
Define migration waves and transition strategy.
Transition priority semantic models and reports into Production.
Validate performance, data quality, and user access after migration.
Ensure Production assets are stable, documented, and supported.
Enable Power BI developers to safely work in Dev environments without impacting Production.

Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability:

Provide clear documentation for Dev and Prod operating procedures.
Develop reusable design and governance patterns for future development.
Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for internal teams.
Provide recommendations for ongoing capacity management and optimization.

Requirement/Must Have:

7+ years of experience in Power BI or analytics engineering.
Strong expertise in Power BI semantic modeling and dataset architecture.
Deep understanding of report and model dependencies.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale Power BI deployments.
Strong familiarity with governance frameworks and release management practices.
Experience implementing Dev/Prod environment separation and promotion strategies.

Should Have:

Experience working with Microsoft Fabric capacity planning and optimization.
Strong understanding of data governance and access control models.
Experience aligning analytics platforms with enterprise operating models.
Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

Qualification And Education:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field preferred.
Equivalent enterprise Power BI and analytics platform experience accepted.
