Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a
Mid-Level/Associate Mission Systems Engineer to join an exciting program located in Seal Beach, CA; with options to work from Aurora, CO or El Segundo, CA; to support development of new first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. This is an opportunity to personally contribute to the development of new first-of-kind space vehicles, ground systems and missions. The programs support a range of platforms and technologies that are predominantly classified . As a member of our engineering design team, you'll work with a system architects, Concept of Operations (ConOps) developers, fault and autonomy designers, and numerous engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, software, power, payload, thermal, communications and test). Development timelines are aggressive and you will be asked to develop solutions to previously unsolved problems. You will be part of a team that generates solutions to minimally defined design spaces!
Key Duties:- Support technology integration for and development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.
- Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership.
- Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere.
- Develop physics-based mission simulations to inform system trade studies and verify system performance.
- Apply astrodynamics and flight mechanics to mission design, novel orbit concepts, and trajectory optimization.
- Independently identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and implement reusable tools and automations.
Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.

- Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- 2 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:- 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 or more years of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (Ex. PhD, Master's + 3 or more years' related work experience).
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or comparable software languages.
- Proficiency developing control algorithms, models, and simulations.
- Familiarity with space environments, mission design, and astrodynamics.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers.
- Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned systems.
