Description

We are working with a client seeking a SQL Database Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance solutions within SQL Server. The client is based in Smyrna. This role focuses on creating and optimizing stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views, as well as developing and supporting ETL processes for data integration and data warehousing initiatives. In addition to SQL Server, the position will contribute to development efforts within the Snowflake data platform. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, excels in performance tuning and query optimization, and possesses a solid understanding of database security and industry best practices to ensure data integrity, reliability, and accessibility across applications and reporting environments.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

o Design, develop, and implement high-quality, efficient database objects, including stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers using T-SQL.

o Participate in the database design process, including data modeling and normalization, ensuring adherence to best practices

o Optimize and tune complex, high-volume T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes to ensure optimal application performance.

o Identify and resolve database performance issues, including deadlocks, long-running queries, and poor execution plans.

o Develop and implement solutions for data migration, replication, and synchronization.

o Ensure data integrity and security by implementing appropriate constraints, indexes, and user access controls.

o Collaborate with application development teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective database solutions.

o Conduct code reviews of database scripts and stored procedures written by other developers.

o Create and maintain technical documentation related to database design, code, and operational processes.

o Assist in the development process of Power BI Semantic Models to be used by Report Developers.

Requirements

Required Qualifications/Skills:

Competently write secure and efficient T-SQL scripts.

Proficiently develop ETL pipelines utilizing SSIS and PowerShell for data on Prem and in the Cloud.

Thoroughly understand business logic requirements to fulfill the accurate results needed for making business decisions.

Maintain accurate documentation of ETL pipelines.

Optimize existing queries for improved performance through reduced I/O, decreased execution times, and streamlined logical processing.

Mentor entry level colleagues, fostering a culture of database best practices and knowledge sharing.

Analyze complex, legacy ETL processes and offer solutions to improve efficiency and follow developmental best practices.

Work effectively in Azure DevOps, utilizing User Stories, Source Control, and Documentation.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Documentation skills for processes and procedures.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps, and security teams.
