Overview
LMI is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer, TACLAN Integration to engineer the interconnect between fielded TACLAN systems and IL4/IL6 hosted environments that deliver modern data, AI, and mission applications to tactical users. This position requires an active Secret clearance.
A successful Distributed Systems Engineer understands that TACLAN is the tactical system teams deploy, train, and fight on, while IL4 and IL6 are the service backplanes where modern capability lives. This role designs how TACLAN kits become forward nodes of enterprise services without changing how teams deploy or operate in the field.

Responsibilities
Solution Design:
Engineer routing and enclave extension between TACLAN NIPR/SIPR VLANs and IL4/IL6 environments
Design gateway patterns so TACLAN nodes logically join cloud hosted enclaves
Utilize standardized IP schema, VLAN design, and routing templates that align with existing TACLAN baselines
Validate performance over SATCOM and constrained RF transport
Testing and Quality Assurance:
Test designs in realistic field exercises with tactical communicators and operators
Ensure network designs remain supportable, repeatable, and survivable in tactical conditions
Maintenance and Support:
Work with network, cybersecurity, and platform teams to ensure designs remain supportable and accreditable
Support field units during integration and troubleshooting of TACLAN to IL4/IL6 connectivity
Documentation:
Produce field ready setup guides, routing templates, and operator TTPs
Create technical reference architectures and implementation guides
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Deep familiarity with SOCOM TACLAN architecture and field employment
Experience with tactical routing, switching, and VLAN design
Understanding of Type 1 boundaries and how tactical networks extend SIPR and NIPR
Experience designing networks over SATCOM and RF backhaul
Practical knowledge of IL4 and IL6 enclave concepts and Impact Level requirements from Defense Information Systems Agency
Experience working with operators during field exercises or deployments
DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II compliant certification
Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting IPsec architectures
Networking certification at the Cisco Certified Network Professional level (or vendor equivalent) demonstrating competency in routing, switching, and network fundamentals
Must possess an active Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud hosted IL4/IL6 hosted environments
Familiarity with distributed automated mission application delivery to TACLAN kits
Understanding of DevSecOps pipelines and how services are delivered to enclaves
Experience writing technical reference architectures and implementation guides
Background in SOCOM, SOF support, or tactical communications units
Target Salary Range: $130,000 - 160,000
