Language Arts Teacher (Permanent) (Onsite)

• Communicate clearly and accurately in explaining lesson objectives and assignments; in maintaining clear, firm, and reasonable work standards; and in other areas of instruction as appropriate.
• Effectively adapt instruction based on formative assessment to ensure student learning.
• Use appropriate and varied instructional techniques that effectively utilize resources to maximize student learning.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree and a valid CA Credential
• Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.

Language Skills:

• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.

Technical Skills:

• Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management,
  information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• A valid CA Teaching Credential

• Knowledge of content areas and structured unit and lesson planning
• Cultivates a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
• Student-centered teaching style focused on student learning
• Maintains classroom management
• Organizes and prepares resources for students
• Incorporates technology to effectively create a 21st century learning environments within the classroom.
• Assists students as needed
• Supervises areas as assigned
• Communicates professionally and in a timely manner with parents
• Plans instruction carefully and implements effectively
• Evaluates and grades students work

Other Shared Responsibilities:

• Cooperates with the principal and staff in the planning and development of curriculum
• Performs duties as requested by the principal.
• Attends all faculty and inservice meetings, Teachers Convention and other meetings as
  needed.

Position Summary:

• Responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to effective communication and literate citizenship
• Develops appreciation of good literature of all types
• Motivates students to read widely for information and recreation
• Develops standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media
• Discovers and develops special talents of students in the field of English to prepare each student to meet the CA standards.
