SAP Data Engineer

SAP - Data Engineer (Cloud, HANA, Data Warehouse, Snowflake, SQL)

The Data Engineer will work on the Data Engineering and Integration team, focusing on data transformation efforts. The candidate will have to have a solid background in key database technologies with a focus on data management, data integration and data transformation experience. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated IT professional that enjoys working closely with commercial business leaders. This person will be inspired by technology and its use in an ever-changing, fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Transform SAP raw data into meaningful data marts/data products based on business and reporting requirements using dbt/SQL
Design, create and execute test cases using dbt/SQL to thoroughly validate transformed data to ensure data quality and integrity
Analyze, in some cases reverse engineer custom functions/procedures built into legacy SAP systems and recreate them in data marts

Other Responsibilities:
Gain deep understanding of team s data platforms / architectures and follow guidelines
Actively engaged in team meetings and contribute to project discussions
Effectively collaborate with external Business teams, including but not limited to sales, marketing, and finance
Participate in daily stand-up, sprint review and sprint planning sessions

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working with SAP and SAP S/4HANA
5+ years of experience working with Cloud Data Warehouse solutions (Snowflake)
3+ years of experience working with dbt (both CLI and Cloud)
Proficiency in SAP programming languages such as ABAP
Expert knowledge of SQL and the ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to work independently
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, or related field

Desired Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow)
3+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
3+ years of experience architecting and building enterprise-scale data warehouses
1+ year of experience with Azure Platform (Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage)
1+ year of experience with data modeling and data warehousing concepts (Data Vault)
