Job Description - Hybrid in Fort Mill SC, New York City NY or Austin TX

Overview

This is a highly strategic Datacenter Architect role focused on leading next-generation data center architecture and migration initiatives. The position requires deep expertise in on-premise data center environments, strong executive-level communication, and the ability to define and drive enterprise-wide architectural patterns.
The role goes beyond application-level design and involves collaboration across networking, security, middleware, and database teams to establish scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure strategies.

Top Skills & Experience Required

  • Enterprise-level on-prem to on-prem data center migration experience (non-cloud focused)
  • Deep VMware expertise (advanced level preferred)
  • Strong networking knowledge, particularly with ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure)
  • Experience with Site Replication Manager for disaster recovery planning
  • Middleware experience, including Kafka and DataPower
  • Database migration experience, including Oracle environments
  • Ability to assess latency impacts and design mitigation strategies
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture for large-scale data center migrations across multiple locations
  • Define and implement application-level failover strategies (e.g., blue-green deployments)
  • Design and enforce network segmentation strategies using ACI
  • Develop and standardize migration patterns across enterprise applications
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (architecture, development, security, networking, and database)
  • Conduct application reviews as part of governance for critical systems
  • Present architecture strategies, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Ensure alignment and coordination across all infrastructure and application layers

Preferred Background

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
  • Experience in industries such as defense, education, or healthcare

  • Provides technical leadership across enterprise architecture initiatives
  • Collaborates with senior technical and management stakeholders to define architecture frameworks and roadmaps
  • Contributes to design specifications aligned with business and technical requirements
  • Supports secure development and configuration management processes

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $100.00/hr.
