Job Details

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed site/civil plan sets (site layout, dimensional control, grading, erosion & sediment control, utility plans, details, and profiles) in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Prepare drainage and stormwater exhibits, basic takeoffs, and quantity tabulations; incorporate redlines and QA/QC comments promptly.
  • Draft and organize water and sewer plans, including low-pressure/grinder pump layouts and standard details; coordinate with vendor cutsheets/specs (e.g., Liberty Pumps).
  • Assemble permit packages and submittals (local site plan approvals, TDEC erosion & sediment control, and TDOT plan components/forms as directed).
  • Support construction administration documentation (SKs, RFI responses, as-builts) from field notes and survey markups; maintain drawing standards and file hygiene.
  • Perform occasional field visits for measurements, photo documentation, and as-built verification; interface professionally with clients, reviewers, and utility reps.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of drafting/technician experience in a civil engineering consulting environment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred): corridors, surfaces, alignments/profiles, grading tools, sheet sets, and plan/profile production.
  • Working knowledge of site grading, drainage, utilities, and plan sheet organization; ability to read survey, geotechnical, and record drawings.
  • Familiarity with stormwater/ESC concepts and typical municipal/TDEC submittals; exposure to TDOT plan formats a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and version control; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a small-team setting.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform light fieldwork (walk sites, take measurements, lift plan sets/equipment up to ~25 lbs).

Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Experience preparing water/wastewater plan sets (including grinder/low-pressure systems) and coordinating with vendor specifications (e.g., Liberty Pumps).
  • Basic quantity takeoffs and Excel-based tabulations; familiarity with Bluebeam for markups and plan reviews.
  • Tennessee municipal/utility standards and submittal workflows; exposure to TDOT digital deliverables.
  • EIT (or intent to pursue) and/or relevant drafting certificate.
