Technology Support Specialist


Role Overview

The Technology Support Specialist provides desk-side technology support to end users and assists with operational activities and strategic initiatives within the local office environment. This position works under general supervision and relies on limited experience to support day-to-day technical operations and complete assigned tasks.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the automated call distribution (ACD) system as directed and monitor the IT help desk ticketing system to ensure issues and requests are resolved or escalated according to established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Provide desk-side technical support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operational IT activities such as new employee onboarding, audio/video conferencing support, office moves, and employee departures.
  • Provide basic desktop application support including installation, maintenance, driver updates, and system imaging. Assist with mobile device support as needed.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve technical issues.
  • Assist with physical infrastructure support in one or more offices when required (e.g., cabling, acting as remote hands for other technical staff).
  • Participate in pre-pilot testing activities and report findings. Become familiar with system changes and updates prior to deployment.
  • Create, edit, and maintain internal knowledge base documentation.
  • Maintain awareness of organizational technology policies and procedures and promote adherence. Provide recommendations for updates or improvements when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to support technical operations and foster a cooperative team environment.
  • Participate in regional or organizational technology projects by completing assigned tasks that support project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent technical knowledge preferred.
  • Up to two (2) years of related technical support experience.
  • Experience supporting macOS environments is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work flexible or fluctuating work hours when needed.
  • Ability to operate within defined guidelines while working under supervision.
