Summary
Cloud Data Migration Engineer
Seeking a Cloud Data Migration Engineer with hands-on experience migrating Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS DMS, supporting full-load, CDC, and real-time streaming data migration architectures. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS infrastructure and networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, VPNs, Direct Connect), cloud-native services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda), and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation. Experience with ETL/ELT processes, migration planning, cutover and rollback strategies, automation using Python/Bash/PowerShell, and monitoring through CloudWatch and CloudTrail is required. Strong communication skills and experience modernizing legacy on-premises systems in hybrid cloud environments are highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Understand business objectives and problems, identify alternative solutions, perform studies and cost/benefit analysis of alternatives.
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or improve existing computer systems.
- Confer with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures and identify problems.
- Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
- Review computer system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to determine feasibility of requested program or program changes.
- Migrate Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS DMS, supporting full-load, CDC, and real-time streaming data migration architectures.
- Implement and manage AWS infrastructure and networking components.
- Design and implement ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects.
- Develop data migration and cutover plans, including rollback strategies and minimizing downtime.
- Document technical designs and migration runbooks.
