Position OverviewThe
Method Engineer - Service & Documentation is a hybrid technical role responsible for defining service methods and creating clear, user-focused technical documentation for workshop execution. This role ensures that repair, maintenance, and diagnostic solutions are both technically sound and practical in real-world environments.
As vehicles become more complex and increasingly dependent on software and data, ensuring serviceability and clear documentation is critical. This role connects engineering, service operations, and documentation to deliver solutions that maximize efficiency, quality, and uptime.
Responsibilities Develop safe, ergonomic, and efficient methods for repair, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
Evaluate product concepts from a serviceability and workshop perspective
Define requirements to improve service efficiency, downtime, and usability
Create clear, structured technical documentation for repair, maintenance, and diagnostics
Translate complex engineering solutions into practical, easy-to-follow instructions
Produce and maintain user-focused content, including text and illustrations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, production, and service
Ensure documentation is aligned with product updates and lifecycle changes
Contribute to continuous improvement of service methods and documentation standards
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience
OR
- Master's degree and at least 1 year of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience
OR
- At least 5 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience
Additional Requirements- Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills Experience with service methods, diagnostics, or workshop operations
Strong ability to simplify complex technical information
Understanding of vehicle systems or similar complex products
Experience in technical writing or documentation development
Experience working in cross-functional development environments
Familiarity with PLM or documentation tools (e.g., Teamcenter or similar)
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Experience with Arbortext
Experience with Windchill
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (beyond Reader)
