Job Summary
The Project Manager provides technical leadership for the design, validation, and deployment of engineered labor standards, labor management system (LMS) configurations, and performance-based incentive models at Byhalia distribution center. Acting on behalf of a third party logistics provider, this role applies industrial engineering methods, data analysis, and Lean principles to optimize warehouse labor performance, system accuracy, and process reliability while ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Labor Standards Improvement
Conduct detailed time studies using statistically valid sampling methodologies.
Improve engineered labor standards for approximately 18 core warehouse functions.
Apply elemental breakdowns, performance rating, allowances, and validation testing.
Perform field pilots and variance analysis to confirm standard accuracy and repeatability.
Document Preferred Methods and standard work for integration into SOPs and training curricula.
2. Labor Management System (LMS) Engineering
Configure and maintain NextView LMS engineered standards, task definitions, and assignments.
Validate XYZ mappings, engineered paths, and logic rules for system accuracy.
Ensure alignment between engineered standards, WMS transactions, and operational execution.
Support troubleshooting of LMS calculation, reporting, and payroll interface issues.
3. Performance Analytics & Continuous Improvement
Analyze productivity, utilization, quality, and labor variance using quantitative methods.
Develop standard reports supporting ROI analysis, payroll impact, and productivity benchmarking.
Identify performance gaps, bottlenecks, and systemic losses using data-driven techniques.
Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights.
4. Incentive Program Implementation
Design and implement performance-based incentive programs.
Define qualifiers, payout structures, and performance thresholds.
Monitor effectiveness and alignment with operational goals.
5. Training & Technical Deployment Support
Deliver training on labor standards, LMS functionality, and incentive mechanics.
Provide technical guidance to supervisors on interpreting LMS and productivity data.
6. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure alignment with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of engineering and training activities.
7. Process Optimization & Standardization
Analyze warehouse layouts and travel paths using AutoCAD tools.
Quantify waste, delays, and inefficiencies through motion and flow analysis.
Support Lean implementations including 6S, Kaizen events, Root Cause Analysis, and Lean initiatives.
8. Safety, Quality & Compliance
Promote safe equipment use and adherence to PPE protocols.
Support initiatives to improve workplace safety and prevent harassment.
Qualifications:
Required:
7 10+ years in warehouse operations, logistics engineering, industrial engineering, or labor standards.
Proven experience leading large-scale productivity improvement projects.
Proficiency with Tier 1 LMS (NextView preferred).
Experience implementing incentive-based compensation programs in a warehouse or logistics environment.
Strong knowledge of LEAN and incentive-based compensation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
Lead lean efficiency and layout change improvement
Preferred:
PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification.
Background in industrial engineering
Background in healthcare or regulated environments.
