Position OverviewAn experienced
Structural Engineer is sought to support a Mechanical and Energetics organization working on missile and launch vehicle systems. This role involves hands-on structural analysis, design support, and testing in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment. The position is fully on-site and plays a key role in ensuring the structural integrity and performance of flight and ground systems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a wide range of structural engineering tasks supporting design, analysis, and testing of launch vehicle and missile systems with minimal supervision
- Generate safety factors for stress, stiffness, buckling, bolted joints, fracture, and other structural failure modes
- Collaborate with analysts, design engineers, and program leadership to resolve technical issues
- Apply structural mechanics principles to guide preliminary and final designs of primary and secondary structures, as well as ground support equipment
- Develop proficiency with structural analysis tools such as FEMAP, NX NASTRAN, MathCAD, and similar software
- Interpret and apply engineering specifications and customer requirements
- Produce engineering documentation and technical reports
- Define appropriate test levels and instrumentation for qualification and acceptance of flight hardware
- Compile and interpret technical data including flight data, test results, and material reports
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of related engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of related engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience performing structural analysis
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of finite element analysis, classical stress and strain methods, statics, and structural mechanics
- Proficiency with standard computer tools including word processing and spreadsheets
- Strong ability to take direction, show initiative, and complete tasks on schedule
- Active DoD Secret clearance or higher
Preferred Qualifications- Master's or PhD in a related engineering field
- Experience supporting high-performance flight structures
- Hands-on use of FEMAP, NX NASTRAN; experience with ANSYS, ABAQUS, or similar tools is also valued
- Expertise in composite structures and fracture mechanics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr.
