Job Summary:
Tryfacta is seeking a Combination Building Inspector I for our client in Santa Monica, CA 90404. This is a temporary contract assignment. If you meet the qualifications listed below and are interested, please Apply Now!
Position Title: Combination Building Inspector I
Location: Santa Monica, CA 90404
County: Los Angeles County
Duration: 4 months
Work Schedule: 100% Onsite | 9/80 Schedule | 6:30 AM–4:00 PM | Alternative Fridays Off
Pay Rate: $58.42/hr
IMPORTANT — MUST HAVE ALL 4 ICC CERTIFICATIONS:
- ICC Commercial Building Inspector
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector
- ICC Commercial Plumbing Inspector
- ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct inspections of building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work to ensure compliance with applicable construction codes, local ordinances, and state laws.
- Approve completed work once required corrections have been addressed.
- Provide guidance to the public and City staff regarding code requirements, permit procedures, inspections, and required documentation.
- Review architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing construction drawings for code compliance.
- Meet with permit applicants to explain review comments, requirements, and required corrections.
- Monitor active construction projects for compliance through final approval.
- Ensure required special inspections and structural observations are completed and properly documented.
- Collect and analyze inspection data and prepare reports, studies, and recommendations.
- Investigate and resolve complaints and coordinate with other departments and agencies as needed.
- Maintain accurate inspection and permit records and prepare correspondence and reports.
- Assist with enforcement actions, including preparation of non-compliance cases and court testimony when required.
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- All 4 ICC certifications are mandatory: Commercial Building, Commercial Electrical, Commercial Plumbing, and Commercial Mechanical Inspector.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of recent, paid experience performing standard building inspections.
- Special inspection experience may substitute for two of the required four years of standard inspection experience.
- Valid Class C driver''s license.
- Personal vehicle required; candidate will be required to drive their own vehicle for the assignment.
- Strong knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes and inspection practices.
- Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software applications.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
- Mandatory CalPERS requirement: Candidate must have never been a CalPERS member.
- Must be available for 100% onsite work in Santa Monica, CA and the 9/80 schedule.
