We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Software Engineer / Engineer Lead to guide the development of next-generation platforms supporting our core Controls Technology area. In this role, you will lead an agile scrum team, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and owning the delivery of scalable backend services and modern user interfaces. This is a key role for an engineer ready to take on technical leadership and drive innovation within a collaborative environment.
ResponsibilitiesLead Backend Development and Design:- Lead the architectural design and hands-on development of robust, enterprise-grade Java Spring Boot services and APIs.
- Own the creation and scaling of containerized microservices, ensuring they meet high standards for performance, security, and reliability.
Guide Full-Stack Collaboration and Architecture:- Partner with product managers and frontend teams to define API contracts and guide the integration of micro-frontend (MFE) React and Angular applications.
- Ensure architectural cohesion and seamless interaction between frontend and backend systems.
Drive Modern Engineering Excellence:- Champion and enforce best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and security across the team.
- Lead the team in leveraging containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native patterns to build resilient, scalable applications.
Own Critical System Integrations:- Design and oversee the development of complex integrations with other internal systems, ensuring data integrity and seamless process flow across platforms.
Champion AI-Enhanced Development Tools:- Evaluate and lead the adoption of tools like GitHub Copilot and advanced code analyzers to boost team productivity, improve code quality, and foster a culture of innovation.
Lead Team Processes and Mentor Engineers:- Lead technical grooming, sprint planning, and design discussions, driving the team toward clear and effective solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through constructive code reviews, pair programming, and regular feedback to foster their technical and professional growth.
Qualifications- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership capacity (e.g., as a Tech Lead, Senior Engineer, or project lead).
- Deep expertise in Java and the Spring Boot framework for building enterprise-grade microservices OR Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks (React or Angular) and a comprehensive understanding of full-stack interactions.
- Proven experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift) and cloud-native application architecture.
- Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
- A passion for mentoring engineers and a talent for explaining complex technical concepts clearly.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and a forward-thinking approach to technology adoption.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders.
- Experience in Financial Services or another large, complex environment is highly desirable.
Education- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience.
