Oracle EBS to Fusion Transformation – Discovery & Pre-Implementation Validation

Role Summary

Our Client is seeking a strong, hands-on Record-to-Report (R2R) Finance Architect to support the Discovery & Pre-Implementation Validation phase of client’s Oracle EBS to Oracle Fusion transformation program. The role requires a candidate who has led at least one full Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud Financials implementation, with direct ownership of Chart of Accounts (CoA) and Enterprise Structure design, and who is comfortable working as a trusted architect-level counterpart to client's Finance Transformation and Product Engineering teams.
This is a business-facing, onsite-anchored role. The candidate must be able to build credibility quickly with client’s business and IT stakeholders, run structured discovery workshops, and translate ambiguous current-state EBS knowledge into a clean, opinionated Oracle Fusion target design — while working collaboratively with a distributed (US + India) Our Client delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead R2R functional discovery workshops covering General Ledger, Cash Management, Intercompany Accounting and Sub-Ledger Accounting across client's ~30 legal entities, in close partnership with client's Finance Transformation and IT teams.
  • Build on client's existing directional L4 process design and fit-gap assessment for R2R, validating and extending it against Oracle Fusion standard functionality.
  • Own and validate the Enterprise Structure design — legal entity hierarchy, ledger design, business unit structure and intercompany setup — and the Chart of Accounts recommendation — segment structure, value sets, cross-validation rules and hierarchies — aligned to Oracle Fusion best practices.
  • Assess and document the impact of proposed CoA / Enterprise Structure changes on downstream dependencies, including Near Real time feeds to external systems, ECC journal feeds and FCCS consolidation.
  • Conduct Oracle Fusion capability bootcamps for R2R stakeholders to demonstrate delivered functionality and drive adoption of cloud-standard processes.
  • Classify each identified gap as Adopt Standard / Configure / Extend via PaaS / Challenge, clearly distinguishing genuine gaps from configuration opportunities.
  • Identify key design decisions and document them in the Key Design Decisions Log (R2R), securing review and sign-off from client's Finance Transformation Lead and PE Program Lead.
  • Identify R2R test scenarios across relevant test phases and contribute to finalizing the Testing Strategy and RACI.
  • Validate the cross-functional impact of R2R design decisions at the boundaries with A2R, S2P and O2C workstreams.
  • Produce the Updated Process Design Document, Fit-Gap Analysis and Key Design Decisions Log for R2R as contractual Discovery-phase deliverables.
  • Maintain a regular onsite cadence at Client Office to run workshops, drive decisions in person, and build working relationships with business and IT stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong Oracle Financials functional / architecture experience, including at least one full-cycle Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud (Fusion) Financials implementation in an R2R Architect or R2R Lead capacity.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Oracle Fusion General Ledger, Cash Management, Intercompany Accounting and Sub-Ledger Accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or re-designing Enterprise Structures and Chart of Accounts for large, multi-entity organizations (30+ legal entities).
  • Strong functional grounding in Oracle EBS R12.2.x (GL, Cash Management, Intercompany, Sub-Ledger Accounting) sufficient to translate current-state design into a Fusion target design.
  • Proven track record running fit-gap workshops and capability bootcamps directly with business and finance stakeholders.
  • Experience defining the integration and reporting impact of CoA / Enterprise Structure changes on downstream systems such as data warehouses and consolidation platforms.
  • Prior experience in Discovery, Pre-Implementation Validation, or Global Design phases of large-scale ERP transformation programs.

Preferred / Good to Have

  • Familiarity with Oracle Revenue Management (RMCS) and Subscription Management (SMCS) touchpoints into R2R.
  • Exposure to Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or other middleware-driven finance integrations.
  • Experience in subscription-based or high-growth technology company environments.

Business Engagement & Soft Skills

  • Executive presence and comfort facilitating workshops directly with senior Finance, Accounting and IT stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document design decisions crisply for formal sign-off.
  • A consulting mindset — able to challenge as-is assumptions constructively while remaining collaborative and business-friendly.
  • Comfortable operating as the face of the engagement onsite, while coordinating closely with an India-based technical delivery team across time zones.

Location & Work Arrangement

  • Onsite presence required on a regular, recurring basis at Client office to support workshops and stakeholder engagement.
